Supreme God Krishna spoke
Even if a person of the most reprehensible character begins to worship Me with unwavering dedication, they should be regarded as having a noble heart, as they have cultivated a virtuous determination. (9:30)

अपि चेत्सुदुराचारो भजते मामनन्यभाक् ।
साधुरेव स मन्तव्यः सम्यग्व्यवसितो हि सः॥
Word-by-word
अपि चेत् सु-दुराचारः भजते माम् अनन्य-भाक्,
साधुः एव सः मन्तव्यः, सम्यक् व्यवसितः हि सः।
Commentary
This verse often raises questions among laypeople: Does God bestow undue protection on sinners by referring to them as "noble persons" simply because they sought refuge in Him? However, this concern is promptly addressed by God in the very next verse. Therefore, it is essential to consider both verses together.
The subsequent verse emphasizes that as soon as someone, even a crook or sinner, becomes a devoted follower, they soon undergo a remarkable transformation toward righteousness. This transformation from a criminal or sinner into a saint is a testament to the profound impact of loving devotion or Bhakti. It signifies the incredible possibility of rapid spiritual growth and redemption.
