Supreme God Krishna spoke
And O, Bhārata! Know that the TamoGuna, imbued with Ignorance, deludes all beings. It binds them to carelessness, indifference to duties, lunacy, laziness, and slumber. (14:8)

तमस्त्वज्ञानजं विद्धि मोहनं सर्वदेहिनाम् ।
प्रमादालस्यनिद्राभिस्तन्निबध्नाति भारत॥

Commentary
The Bhāgawata Purāna describes the signs of RajoGuna, the Passional Mode of Nature, in further detail—anger (क्रोध), greed (लोभ), lying (झूठ बोलना), violence (हिंसा), begging (याचना), conceit (दंभ), discord (कलह), mourning (शोक), delusion (मोह), grieving (विषाद), helplessness (दीनता), sleepiness (निद्रा), hope (आशा), fear (भय) and inaction (अकर्मण्यता), etc. (Verse 4, Ch. 25, Eleventh Skandha, Bhāgawata Purāna.)
