The Yoga of Knowledge and Renunciation of Action

Here, "knowing Krishna" carries profound significance. It surpasses mere knowledge about Krishna derived from the Gitā or other scriptures. It entails a direct, firsthand realization of Krishna—an intimate acquaintance with His all-encompassing nature, devoid of any hearsay. When one comprehends Krishna in His entirety, it leads to Self-realization, as the individual Self is a fragment of Krishna or Ishvara (10:20;15:7). Krishna is inseparable from Ishvara or God, embodying the Ultimate Reality, as reiterated in various verses of the Gitā, such as 7:24, 9:11, and 15:18.

Hence, in understanding Krishna, one also comprehends oneself. This realization leads to the dissolution of all attachment to one's actions and their outcomes, rendering them incapable of binding one to the worldly cycle. With this realization, liberation or Nirvāna is attained, freeing one from the cycle of birth and death.
