राजविद्याराजगुह्ययोग

Meaning

Supreme God Krishna spoke

Having thus enjoyed their stay at the expansive heaven, on the fruits of their virtuous deeds getting exhausted they fall back into the murky material existence. Therefore, those who {primarily} seek sensual enjoyment by following the principles of the three Vedas achieve only recurring births and deaths. (9:21)

Sanskrit

श्रीभगवान् उवाच

ते तं भुक्त्वा स्वर्गलोकं विशालं क्षीणे पुण्ये मर्त्यलोकं विशन्ति ।

एवं त्रयीधर्ममनुप्रपन्नागतागतं कामकामा लभन्ते॥

Word-by-word

ते तम् भुक्त्वा स्वर्ग-लोकम् विशालम्,

क्षीणे पुण्ये मर्त्य-लोकम् विशन्ति; एवम् त्रयी-धर्मम्-अनु-प्रपन्नाः, गत-आगतम् काम-कामाः लभन्ते।

Commentary

This statement, too, serves as a critique of the Vedas and the Vedic religion.
