I am the Provider and the Ultimate Goal of all; I am the Supreme Ruler of the Universe; I am the Witness, the Shelter, the Ultimate Refuge, and the Universal Friend; I am the Origin and Dissolution of the universe; and I am the Foundation, the Resting Place, and the Indestructible Seed of Creation. गतिर्भर्ता प्रभुः साक्षी निवासः शरणं सुहृत् ।
प्रभवः प्रलयः स्थानं निधानं बीजमव्ययम्॥

Commentary
Many ideas in the verse have been touched upon before, yet two concepts merit special consideration. Firstly, God serves as a witness to all, a facet of His omnipresence. This means that He is witness to all the rights and wrongs that we do. There is not a single corner in the universe where our actions go unnoticed by Him and unrecorded. This realization can be helpful in two ways: it may prevent one from doing anything unrighteous, and secondly, since His eyes are watching us everywhere, a devotee can be assured of His help anywhere, whether in the profound depths of the sea or in solitary space while traveling on a space mission to far-away galaxies.
The most important concept, however, is that God, despite being the Ruler and Provider, does not lord over us as slaves. He is a Universal Friend. This contrasts with depictions in some faiths, where God appears as a benevolent yet austere ruler, communicating in a manner that instills fear. Recognizing the Ruler of the Universe as a benevolent presence brings solace to humanity amidst its trials. After all, a friend in need is a friend indeed. So, why not seek His guidance and aid when in trouble? Surely, He will answer the call.
